
Meet our Optometrists

Dr. Brian Book
Dr. Brian Book has been in a busy, diversified practice since graduating from the University of Waterloo as an Optometrist in 1977. He has built one of the most progressive and largest optometric practices together with his partners Drs. Rosenblat, Singh-Enns, Gillman, and Sherbo. He was a pioneer in the early days of soft contact lenses. Brian has lectured internationally on contact lens topics as well as practice management. He has been sought after to participate in Advisory Boards of major ophthalmic product companies such as CibaVision and Johnson and Johnson. He has also participated as a clinical investigator for numerous companies and his findings have contributed to the design and improvements of contact lenses and their fitting techniques.
Dr. Kara Rosenblat
Dr. Kara Rosenblat attended the University of Manitoba, where she obtained a Bachelour of Science degree in 1997 with Distinction. In 2002, Kara graduated from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and returned to Winnipeg to join Dr. Brian Book's practice. Kara has been a member of the Children’s Vision Committee of the Manitoba Association of Optometrists. She has participated in contact lens review panels and taken part in research involving ocular side effects of systemic medications. Along with her partners, she provides a full scope optometric practice with the latest contact lens and spectacle products.
Dr. Sonia Singh-Enns
Dr. Sonia Singh-Enns graduated from the University of Waterloo in 2003 and has been practicing Optometry with the Book team ever since. Sonia has served on the Children’s Vision and Diabetes committee for the Manitoba Association of Optometrists. She volunteers doing eye exams at Siloam Mission. In the summer of 2011, she was instrumental in helping to create a vision exhibit at the Manitoba Museum. This exhibit traced the history of Optometry in Manitoba and educated visitors of all ages on the importance of vision and the role of eye care professionals. Sonia is also a proud mother of two young children.
Dr. Mark Gillman
Dr. Mark Gillman has been practicing Optometry in Winnipeg since 2002, when he graduated with a Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. He also holds a Bachelour of Science degree from the University of Manitoba. In 2007, he joined the private practice of Drs. Book, Rosenblat, Singh-Enns and Sherbo. Mark is past co-chair of the Public Relations Committee of the Manitoba Association of Optometrists and served as the Manitoba member of the National Public Relations Education Committee for the Canadian Association of Optometrists. Mark is married with two children.
