Get to Know Book Optical

Dr. Kara Rosenblat obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in 1997, with distinction, from the University of Manitoba. In 2002, Kara graduated from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and returned to Winnipeg to join Dr. Brian Book’s practice.

Kara has been a member of the Children’s Vision Committee of the Manitoba Association of Optometrists. She has participated in contact lens review panels and research involving ocular side effects of systemic medications. Along with her partners, she provides a full scope optometric practice with the latest contact lens and spectacle products.

Dr. Rosenblat is also a proud mom of her 2 young kids.

Dr. Sonia Singh-Enns graduated from the University of Waterloo in 2003 and has been practicing optometry with Dr. Book’s team ever since. She has served on the Children’s Vision and Diabetes committee for the Manitoba Association of Optometrists. Sonia volunteers conducting eye exams at the Siloam Mission.

This exhibit traced the history of optometry in Manitoba and educated visitors of all ages on the importance of vision and the role of eye care professionals. Sonia is a proud mother of two children. In her spare time, Sonia enjoys swimming, tennis and pickle ball at the Winnipeg Winter Club.

Dr. Ehren Sherbo was born and raised in Winnipeg. He attended undergrad at the University of Manitoba and went on to study optometry at the University of Waterloo, where he graduated with distinction. Dr. Sherbo joined Book Optical and Book Vision Care in fall 2007.

He has travelled to attend specialized contact lens seminars and attends Vision Expo East in New York City annually. Dr. Sherbo is a Team Optometrist with the Winnipeg Jets, Manitoba Moose, and Winnipeg Goldeyes. He is currently a member of the Government Relations Committee for the Manitoba Association of Optometrists.

Ehren is also on the Misericordia Golf Classic organizing committee and is a board member at St. Charles Country Club. In his spare time, Ehren enjoys golfing, running, cycling, skiing, practicing yoga and looking after his nieces and nephews.

Dr. Mark Gillman has been practicing optometry in Winnipeg since 2002 when he graduated with a Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Manitoba.

In 2007, he joined the private practice of Drs. Book, Rosenblat, Singh-Enns, and Sherbo. Mark is a past co-chair of the Public Relations Committee of the Manitoba Association of Optometrists and served as the Manitoba member of the National Public Relations Education Committee for the Canadian Association of Optometrists. Mark is married with two children.

Adam graduated with his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo in 2008. After graduation, he pursued an MSc in Vision Science with a focus on novel techniques for the diagnosis of dry eye, and subsequently worked at the Centre for Ocular Research & Education in Waterloo. Adam relocated to Winnipeg in 2016 and joined Book Optical in 2021. He serves as a member on the council for the Manitoba Association of Optometrists and is also involved with the practice standards committee. He is married with three children.
